As of June 2014, the town had an estimated population of 6,993 and a population density of 106 persons per km². The total area was 65.80 km². ==Geography== Onagawa is located on the rugged rias Pacific coast of north-central Miyagi Prefecture. Onagawa is a port town, and right at the intersection of two major ocean currents.
